More and more im getting requests from people looking for those isolated Brazilian beaches off the north and east coast. Its actually not as hard as you might think to find at least a semi isolated beach with great views, well atleast it is in the low season anyway. There are some great pictures of these shores such as “Fernando de Noronha” above.

One thing to consider is how far your willing to travel to get to some of these hideaways, still if it was easy to get to wouldn’t everyone be there. As mentioned before at really depends on the time of year but check out “Bonete” close to Sao Paulo

So i wanted to a do a review that was a little bit different this time, instead of being a hotel it is an apartment block that i am going to be reviewing as i think this is an underestimated part of the market. One thing i like about a rented apartment is that it can often feel much more like a place of your own than a hotel which i feel can sometimes feel very corporate. You may also be surprised by the price of some apartments in Sao Jose.

Mercure Apartments actually has quite a few good facilities to choose from including pool/gym and spa which i think is really good for an apartment complex that is only around $100 per night. I suppose many people just don’t think about an apartment when booking a vacation. Still i think you may want to check them out sometime!

So as you may know i love hotels that are right on the beach. It always adds a special element to any vacation to be able to just walk straight out of the hotel onto some golden sands! This is the main reason i decided to do a hotel review for Othon Palace Hotel. The hotel is 4 star and is at the upper end of the market and i suppose at around $200m a night most people would consider it very expensive, but still you get what you pay for don’t you.

The pool looks amazing as it has 180 degree views of the beach, which looks even better a night believe it or not. There are also plenty of extras like a gym and spa so there’s plenty to help you relax. Check out their site at www.rioothonpalacehotel.com

Well as you probably already know (or maybe not) Rio has won the bid to hold the 2016 Olympics. Its a pretty big deal, im sure i don’t have to tell you that its great not just for Rio but the country as a whole and particularly the tourism industry. Its still some time way but we can expect the industry to start gearing up this massive event very soon.

Who knows what this is going to do to hotel prices? I know for most people a hotel in Rio during the Olympics is going to be too expensive but there will probably be other options for people too, still i suppose we can worry about that closer to the time.

So i thought i would do hotel review here at Brazil rooms just to help people coming to some of the bigger cites for the first time to make a decision. I know how hard it can be to pick a hotel in strange city that you have never been to before. So the hotel im going to review is Mercure Guarulhos Aeroporto Hotel which is in Sao Paulo. The best thing about this hotel is the price because that despite being a 4 star hotel it represents good value at around $90 per night which is really good value for a hotel in this category. Another great thing is the location of the hotel which is right in the heart of the city and means you won’t have to pay too much to get to all of the nearest attractions.
